El Cachivache Quinteto
Dance me to the end of noise
What the Cachivache Quinteto presents here sounds more like a compilation: pieces and interpretations from various areas of their musical work.
The quintet presents some old classics from the 'instrumental and fast' section, five tracks with Romanian singer Gianina Druta, some of their own compositions, and Leonard Cohen's Dance Me to the End of Love.
Overall, the versions sound as if they were part of their milonga/ballroom repertoire. What is unusual, but appealing, however, is the fact that the main melodies of the old hits are not performed by a violin or the bando, but by an electric guitar.
Gianina Druta, an alto in terms of vocal technique and therefore perfectly suited to tango, tends to hold back in her pieces, especially in Fruta amarga and Fuimos, and follows the vocal line of the originals.
