Agustín Guerrero (piano) and Leonel Capitano (vocals) are no strangers: Numerous tours (most recently in 2024) and recordings with different line-ups have also made the pair well-known in our country.
This CD comprises 14 tracks, mostly classics, plus a milonga and a zamba. The pieces were arranged for duo by Agustín Guerrero, in three cases with the addition of cellist Jacqueline Oroc.
With Noches Largas, the duo has created a CD that works particularly well in concert. Even if some of the pieces offer enough structure for dancing, as a DJ I will hardly ever play this CD. Listening to it at home or on a long drive is a pleasure. Studying the old lyrics certainly raises the question of how such drama can be formulated today. The CD attempts a contemporary answer, sometimes very close to jazz and surprisingly close to art song. The selection of famous tangos speaks for the courage and self-confidence of the two musicians. Hats off.
