Nuevo Tango concertos by Piazzolla und Massa

Omar Massa, born in 1981, bandoneonist and composer, has become in recent years a prominent torchbearer of Tango Nuevo, thus of the legacy of Astor Piazzolla - whose works he not only performs at an outstanding level, but also creates his own compositions in the style of this epochal change.
At the same time, the proportion of persistence in Piazzolla's architecture and the continuation to his own profile is different. Piazzolla's symphonic originals are heard here in orchestrally differentiated versions interwoven with tensile strength and ensemble density. Massa's inspired, tonally and dynamically finely graded soloism, however, repeatedly sets highlights in the Concerto.
